Dismissing the way that a specific group (as well as the culture it exists in) normalizes and promotes gender-based discrimination and violence seems like willful ignorance to me.

I’m here to collect gifs and outrage.

I also think the general public works with a pretty superficial definition of “mental illness” and “mentally ill.” My whole life has basically been a case study in the vastness and complexity of that category... One of my older siblings is schizophrenic; he was always the kindest and the least violent of my brothers.

I think this article and the comments indicate how mental health is seriously not discussed in a serious manner. Yes it’s creepy, yes it’s the typical ‘male’ ego we love to parade on this website. It’s also a clear indication of someone suffering from mental health issues: Schizophrenia or a Bi-Polar if I were to

“My mom is someone who faced a lot of obstacles but never took no for an answer, and she showed me the only person who can limit you is yourself.”

This made me let out what I can only describe as a “whispered cackle” at my office desk.

If I didn’t see the first one, will I even understand the second????

This will never not be funny to me. Never.

I am part of the green sliver, btw.

I'm holding out until they get the 20 year study back from the all-ice-cream diet.

Fun fact: Anybody who writes or utters the phrase "I want the purity of my daughters protected" in regards to a bra commercial is going to be a grandparent at 35.

When I was suddenly given a cancer diagnosis, we were stunned. But, I later found out from my mother that he called and told her that she didn't need to worry. He was not ever leaving me and that he would take care of her only child no matter what.

And for all the people who come out of the woodwork to defend these two 'cause they're close in age to their students? NO.

No Child Left Behind.

It's an innocent comment on Deadspin. I didn't think I'd actually have to clarify that "not all men" are actually terrible, but here you go.

I see a lot of commentary on this - all of it good - that "Dads who have daughters should read this!" or whatever.

How I imagine the Jezebel office right now:
