Those people with those awful pretentious status things were not rich. If you have not saved for your kid’s college and retirement, you’re not rich. Period.

My husband and I made a deliberate decision to live in a small town so our daughter would be in school with children of all socioeconomic backgrounds. She went to a Big 10 university, no debt for her or us.

I’m an old, but my parents had an absolute horror of discussing money with any of us—and there were six of us. I doubt that my parents would be considered rich by people on this thread, because they are mere Mainstreet Millionaires. But they put six kids through college with no loans, and none of us ever had to save

Paul Lynde, Uncle Arthur on Bewitched, was very barely closeted. I know his legacy is a troubling one to many young gay and lesbian people. But he was a very nearly out man on one of the most popular TV shows of the 60s.

That's beautiful!

I love Logo. So does my husband. Turns out the Logo programmers have the exact same taste in old sitcoms as we do. We watch original programming now, too!

Haven’t noticed extra hostility, but it could be because we are all coming down from the amazing SCOTUS week.

I bet David Brooks could tell us all about loss and masculinity. Love that name and avatar!!!!

Good point. I see this issue from both sides. I struggle with weight, but my daughter is very slim and amazingly fit. People sometimes think she is too thin. But I don't think it's possible to be healthier than she is.

You make excellent points, but the hub is an engineer with an MBA. The providing thing, financially is very good.

She is clearly making a point about the dangerous thinness of many women in Hollywood. The way women are portrayed in media affects the way everyday women view themselves. Many actresses are dangerously thin.

I do not think she’s body shaming the naturally slim at all. I think she’s making a point about those terrifyingly thin lollipop headed actresses that populate Hollywood.

My husband is 6”2’ and about 230 pounds. He has always had prodigious strength, even for a big strong guy. He believes weight training is for girly men and athletes. He was born strong.

“Relationships are based on total honesty.”

Your hubby’s got some real competition with this kitty. He’s handsome, a snappy dresser and a doctor!

I’ve been very happily married for decades. I know I’ve never cheated on my hub and truly believe he never has either. But I would not tell and would be furious with my husband for burdening me for his transgression, should such a thing ever happen.

I have only seen my husband cry once: When we had to put our very old, smelly, beloved beagle down. She had cancer, and it was the right thing to do. The pain was a total gut punch, but time will pass and all you will remember will be the love and the fun of your sweet old friend.

Oh Lord, every damn house purchase is hard. It’s just the way of it. The only comfort I can offer you is that your experiences aren’t weird and your worry is quite normal.
