I think it's kinda unfair to compare them: Snicket is focused on dissecting and subverting children's literature, playing with structure and wordplay in order to create a dizzying ride unlike anything we've read before. Harry Potter is a more traditional fantasy series: not as edgy or avant grade, but it's not

I have a friend who wrote his thesis on this series…there's a lot to unpack.

I have that problem with Harry Potter, to be honest. A perfectly fine series, but the way it's so often compared to everything else (and almost always favorably) leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

There are 4. I've read the first three and can't imagine how he'll wrap it up, but it's a fun ride with Snicket's irrepressible cleverness cranked up to 11.

Ah, I see. So it has its charm, but you gotta be in the right mood (say, drunk and with a bunch of friends).

I like your analysis of Paula; it seems like a lot of people here actively dislike her, and I'm not going to pretend she doesn't give awful advice, but I do appreciate you pointing out that she has been a real support system. I don't really think it's fair to say that her motives are selfish or for entertainment; she

But she knows Josh isn't going to be on the flight. He stayed home. But I like the idea.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks she's pretty well developed. She's not super complex, but not everyone is. Like Josh, she's kinda a simple person, which is probably part of why they've been together for so long. And I've known Valencia; hell, I've been Valencia. (But not as hot….curse you, midnight bagels!) she's

I'm a girl about 5 years younger than Rebecca, with exclusively female friends, and I would love a Paula. She just needs someone to balance out the crazy, since Scott seems as much of a weirdo. I'm hoping they'll adopt Heather in their mutual disdain for Greg and form a coalition.

Amazon prime has it. Very worth the money.

Soooooo can Chris O'Dowd come in and be the new Josh? Because I'm totally cool with that.

The beauty of this show (and one of many reasons I come here to talk endlessly about it, an obsession I only share with Red vs Blue and Rupaul's Drag Race) is how good the writers are at making us care about and even side with Rebecca, despite—or often because of—her issues.

Is it bad that I kinda don't want her to? I mean, I still sit with Paula in the Joshbecca ship, despite everything. Though this was one of the best episodes, there's a voice in my head going, "but wait, maybe they can still work out!"

Oh, that sounds awesome . Some of the "mainstream" interviews are so embarrassing because the hosts obviously don't get her or the show at all and don't know how to talk to her. The view, unsurprisingly, was especially hard to watch.

No, thank goodness! Rachel tweeted that there will be a season 2!

Ooh…I'm leery about network musicals (thanks, Glee), but if people here like it…is it anything like ceg?

Speaking of, has anyone else kinda missed Paula? She had such a great episode with her husband, but she's been basically pushed aside these last two episodes. I understand she's not in a narratively significant point right now, but I hope she remains a major player even if/when the Joshbecca thing is resolved (be it
