Fuck that “times were different back then” and “we would have done the same as terrible people did because it was a long time ago” bullshit. I grew up in the ‘80's in the deep South surrounded by racists. I knew it was wrong then. I didn’t participate and got the fuck out to NYC as soon as I could. It was wrong then

Well yeah, if we were to accurately define what most people are calling “Cancel Culture,” then its really just “people make angry or snarky comments/tweets/articles about you on the internet and it has little or no effect on your job, finances, or social standing” which does apply to lots of content here.

He’s become bad enough as it is, but my bigger beef is he gives all the wrong people a platform.

I think you have a big misunderstanding about what a leftist is. You should look into that.

Talk about whining

Why do I need to hear yet more racist sexist bullshit that we’ve all been drowning in for years now?

yep, real time was a great rite of passage for me as a twenty-something, newly atheist, trying to understand politics.
but things change, and he didn’t. which is fine; he can be mad about the young people and their newfangled ways. i’m sure his audience is happy to do the same.
but me, i’m old and i only have so

Like many of us who came to our senses, I stopped watching years ago. Aside from his shit-for-brains cranky old man neoliberal takes on everything, the thing I don’t miss all the cringy parts where he abuses the audience.

Maher is not a liberal. Never was. He’s a bigot (anti trans, anti muslim, anti religion, anti science, anti vaccine) who’s only consistent anti conservative stance is that he wants to smoke pot.

There was a late teens/early-20's version of me who was angered, deeply, by the Bush years and the rise of the irreligious Right, and when people would say things my guts or my angry self agreed with, I viewed them with great respect. I went through a “Bill Maher is funny, and right!” and a “Man those New Atheists!”

I used to watch this show.

Move that goalpost!

The only redeeming moment in this show’s history was when Ben Affleck tore Maher a new asshole for his Islamaphobia alongside Bernie Sanders.

I used to watch him, but apart from some of his more questionable guest choices, I got tired of him constantly trying to throw trans-people under the bus.

Glad to see I am not the only Father-stan. When he came back online as himself I smiled so big. I have not seen Abubakar Salim in anything else but I hope this show jump starts his career. His acting between being a emotionless service model vs kind Father is really great. He really feels warm, I want him to be my

I hope to reach your level of class and graciousness one day. To get back to the watermelon, AvantGardeVegan on youtube also grilled a watermelon on his channel. I was skeptical, but after reading your article I need to try it ASAP.

Dude on Crazy Delicious grilled an entire jerked watermelon to look like a ham. It even sliced like ham.

I feel like the whole “let’s give this idiot a platform to spout their ridiculous views to the people can see them for what they really are” strategy hasn’t worked so great for us up to now.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again and again as long as she’s running. This woman is evil. Her new age nonsense is fine until it’s the middle of the AIDs crisis, an there are no treatments yet, and she’s spouting “The Secret” bullshit to people like my college friend Michael, who despite being an actual

My crunchy artsy (and sometimes vegan) friends all support her, and it kills me that all these educated people are rooting for some woo woo bullshit. I NEVER want to hear anything about spirituality when it comes to politicians.
