the best part of the forest arc was when they spent pretty much an entire episode sprinting through the woods being chased, and then the leader pulled out a gun and said “i have a plan” just as the episode ended, only for the next episode to reveal that his plan was to use a flashbang to get his team to shut up so

Except the manga is at the home stretch now.

It’s not the longest or deepest game, no pun intended, but it achieves what it set out to do, deliver a power fantasy where you get to play as an increasingly ludicrous shark that eats everything that moves.

I loved this game, and completely cleared the map. Under normal circumstances I probably wouldn't have given it the time of day, but due to the content draught I am gobbling up everything, and I am so glad this came out during this shitty time.

Be that as it may, despite them turning on handlers in captivity, there hasn’t been a single incident out in the wild of an orca fatally attacking a human. As apex predators as they are in the ocean, they don’t see us as food.

But seriously. Orcas are fucking terrifying.

I am so glad this game exists! Even if it’s a bit short, and sometimes basic, just the fact that there was a developer out there that said “screw it, we’re making an open-world Shark RPG!” makes me feel good about games again.

I love how intelligent and calculating orca’s are. There is this one pod off the coast of South Africa that kill great white sharks and just eat their liver.

I concur. I think is more about generational trauma and one magical way of dealing with the fallout.

ultranationalist propaganda

It’s definitely the “propaganda” part I take issue with. The story pretty much challenge whether or not nationalist views is the best of interests despite it seemingly being the most convenient.

Sorry, those were two unrelated comments - the author has previously defended Japanese war crimes on social media and said he idolizes a Japanese general who was at the center of many of them. AoT obviously doesn’t say anything about that directly.

The series IS pretty ultra-nationalist, the “propaganda” part is what is wrong in the statement, as the final manga arc is showing. I won’t say anything else cuz spoilers, but the author does a pretty great subversion of expectations for anyone who is not following the series anymore cuz reasons above.

The anime isn’t coming until fall, and there’s no way they’re going to fit the remaining story in a single cour, so if they run all 24-25 episodes continuously they’ll wrap up in March. Whereas the manga should end this year if Isayama’s original estimate holds (even with the delay).

Isayama himself is a noted member/supporter of a socially conservative/nationalist political party/movement in Japan. A lot of westerners use that knowledge to read into Attack on Titans militaristic side of things. The issue with this topic is multiple though.

Its all about funding and secondary sales of merchandise to justify another season.

I treat it like Lovecraft; I come for the fucked up monster shit and fantasy/sci-fi, while maintaining a cool academic distance from the bigotry.

You didn’t read the blurb did you?

To all the folks who quit earlier I’d say come back the water is fine. AoT went from way over-hyped, to appropriately hyped, to now under hyped. Is the series absolutely bonkers? Oh hell yes, is the series also one of the most fun action adventure series around today? Also yes. It may have been surpassed in recent

I wonder what is going to wrap up first, the show or the manga. They showed some stuff in there that’s pretty current in the story. The manga was delayed a bit due to covid, and to me it seems like its going to wrap up either next issue or end in December.
