I loved this season, but I have some concerns for future seasons. I worry that they feel like they're going to have to top themselves each season, by having even more shocking twists, more drama, more zaniness, etc, until it just becomes way too ridiculous. I can sort of see it starting to happen already. I never

Which is a good thing. It is prison, and there are bound to be some shitty people there. Not everyone has a sob story.

I can't believe I fell in with the bad nuns.

That's a good point. The way SoSo talked about Meadow makes me think something bad happened to her.

The show deviates from the book so much that I don't think they feel obligated to stay true to reality. The real Piper is a consultant on the show, so she must be okay with having the show be a highly fictionalized version of her story. I just don't see fictional Piper and Larry getting back together.

You're close, but Nicky said that Christopher only visited once when Morello first got there, then never again.

Morello's sister telling her about Christopher bugged me too, because it makes no sense, and it was clearly just a plot device to get Morello to do what she did. I try not to over-analyze it though.

Probably a continuity error, as I doubt they had this backstory in mind from the very beginning, but it can easily be explained by Morello lying about it, so it doesn't really bother me.

They've done a really great job casting the child actors for flashbacks. Actually, casting is probably this show's greatest strength, because I can't think of a weak link in the cast.

Yeah, after spending so much time with the more sympathetic characters, it can be jarring to remember that they all did something to land themselves in prison, and some of them are capable of some pretty horrific stuff.

I've watched the whole season, and there's one line in the review that I'd really like to comment on, but I can't because it's a spoiler. I hope Todd finishes his full-season review soon. It's hard for me to remember sometimes what scenes were in which episodes because they all blur together when watching so many in a

The fourth episode is probably my favorite of the season (and I really liked the whole season). I knew Morello was delusional because it had been established last season that she wasn't in contact with her fiancee, but I really never saw that twist coming. The humor in the episode is also great, like with O'Neill

IT'S NOT A TOOMAH!

Another female character could be Trish from season 1 of Orange is the New Black. She kept track of everything she ever stole and intended to pay everything back because she didn't want to owe anybody anything.

It's not gratuitous nudity, because it serves a point. They're showing how these female prisoners are degraded by the criminal justice system, and how they are powerless. And the depiction of unsettling sexual power dynamics on this show is not meant to be sexy to the viewers, but rather cringeworthy and realistic in

Stop talking about stuff that happens later in the season, even if it is kind of vague. This review is for the first two episodes only. You're giving too much away.

That scene is actually pretty much straight from the book. They intentionally had bad outfits for a job interview to show what not to wear, and a cocktail dress was one of them. Sofia's real-life counterpart chose to wear that dress.

I don't think I could ever binge-watch something to the extent that some people do, like watching a whole season in a day. I think the closest I've gotten is watching the first season of Orphan Black over a three day weekend. That show is great for binge-watching, so it's not quite as fun now watching the second

Identity thief!

What is Todd doing up at this hour? Wouldn't it have been 5 AM in California when this was posted (if that's where he is right now)? Does he have an alert that wakes him in the event of Community news?
