BTW, the new Dell Studio I bought my wife is LIME GREEN. Not glossy black, not chrome. In fact, Dell offers literally hundreds of colors, patterns, and designs for its laptops and desktops.

Why is "going retro" the only solution to this monotony that you so dislike? That's pretty hipsterish and uncreative if you ask me. Tons of custom design involves littler more than just looking through a 60's electronics catalog. To me those examples posted seem just as monotonous as a bunch of glossy black.

I wouldnt really call that a success. sort of a halfway working prototype.

@CIM: Again, as previous commenter said, you can do that with Android if you want. You can have a home screen with no icons at all in fact. The point is Android gives you the choice, Apple doesn't.

I love the HTC Sense keyboard that came with my Incredible. I always read about "stock keyboards suck" yet am never presented with any specifics, as in this very article.

@GeneJacket: I can read 100GB off a flash drive faster than I can stream it off a disc. I think that's what the OP meant. Saying disc media is dead is not the same as saying physical media is dead.

@CoHPhasor: Like I said to minibeardeath, you are assuming that physical media must equal disc. "There's always a place for physical disc backup for those who truly want to keep their data and not lose it. " Why does it have to be disc backup? What's wrong with a read-only flash drive?

@minibeardeath: Yeah, saying physical media was dying was incorrect, but I think what the author meant was really discs that require moving parts and complex lasers.

I'll stick with the black one I bought for 90 bucks at BB. Not gonna pay 30 bucks for paint on my backup HD.
