There have been very good alternatives to Fraps all along. Fraps is just what people that don't know any better use and Fraps seems to be perfectly fine being the starter software for recording games.

As a FPS tool, fraps is garbage. As a recording device, fraps is garbage. Always has been always will be. I'm sure they're doing just fine.

Isn't Fraps one of the most pirated pieces of software? They've probably be quaking for a while :D

Not quite. The lead on onion routing was the US Navy. The State Department, to this day, provides about 90% of TOR's funding.

They were more than consulted on its creation - they were its original creators:

One would hope they couldn't defeat Tor, given what it was meant to do and that they were almost certainly consulted on its creation.

And this is how capitalism is supposed to work. Except that in this country we have given up breaking up monopolies so this will last until they start to become a threat and then Comcast TWC will buy them for some obscene amount of cash and shut everything down to the current monopoly price and service level.
