KTMs are reliable bikes, and the brakes and suspension are WAY higher-spec than this. I don’t doubt that the CB650R is a lot of fun and a very capable bike, but the 790 definitely has some meaningful advantages - not least of which is being 80 pounds lighter.

What Jalopnik didn’t add or talk about from The Current Review:

That’s a lot of coin for that bike honestly, especially when you can pick up an MT-07 with ABS for $7600 MSRP new. I2 vs I4 and the MT-07 is down on HP (Thanks to two less cylinders) but up on the torques by a few (74HP/50TQ). The MT-07 sounds nice with a pipe on it. I like the styling of the MT-07 better though.

Battery weight is not an issue at Pikes Peak. The weight difference between EVs and ICEVs is created by the following: The gravimetric power density(kw/kg) of an electric motor is much higher than that of a combustion car, while the energy density(kWh/kg) of the energy store is absolutely horrible for an EV. That

Such a weird hodgepodge. It’s a throwback to the Targa’s of old, but it’s available only in 4WD with a PDK. The top is fabric when up, so it’s not as quiet and comfortable as a hard top. It’s automated, so it’s just as complex as a convertible, while not offering a full convertible experience.

Still think this should be a manually removable Targa top, so that it could be lighter than the Cabriolet, but I’m not the targeted audience, so who gives a flyin’ fuch about what I gots to say.

All the targas!

uh... good for you?

I’m about 50/50 on steering wheel vs. center stack volume actuation with everyday driving... but the benefit of a big knob in the center stack is that it allows for gross muscle memory to find and actuate it.

My theory on consumers who SCREAM for more touchscreen controls is that they have never actually spent time in a vehicle with excessive touchscreen controls. (Or they are Tesla stans)

Commenter over there complaining about it having physical buttons. WTF? Who wants more touchscreen, especially in a rig that you’re gonna have the doors off getting dust, dirt, and mud everywhere?

It looks so close to what I wanted the new defender to be.

You ever drive a Wrangler? What does it do well on the road? The answer is not much. Sure, it has off road chops and the ability to shed it’s top and doors but how much drive-ability on pavement do you compromise for that? The answer is a lot. 97% of the Wranglers will never make it past a dirt road.

I mean, Trump’s spent the vast majority of Jr’s life having no contact with him. I’d be surprised if this were any different.

It was definitely a good deal, which in the end is why he contacted me and asked for it back. I figured I just had a free rental hah.

Sadly, CP.

That’s if you check every box like a doofus.

You’re forgetting:

Genchi Genbutsu”

It’s great that he’s getting involved, and I think it’s important to understand if “walking the floor” means either:
