The Chordvettes, obviously. Think they changed their name tho.

i’m thinking the era just before that...Bigfoot 1 through 4, Bearfoot (and lil Bearfoot), USA#1, King Kong, Taurus, Virginia Giant, King Krunch...all the OG trucks. There was quite a rivalry between Bigfoot and Bearfoot at that time, I recall well when Bearfoot started sporting 74 inch tires just to best the standard

At the time however, Bearfoot WAS one of the most popular monster trucks, arguably number 2, right behind Bigfoot. This was long before the ‘competitive’ monster truck era, back when the trucks were really just hugely lifted real body on frame pickups with military axles.

yep, that story is a riot. I wish i still had a copy of the paperback version, it had an added chapter that detailed a bit about the 1969 500 win. The hardcover came out prior.

I worshipped this guy as a kid, thanks to finding and repeatedly reading his autobiography. Its a highly entertaining read, dubiously accurate, and long out of print.

To be fair, yes, the Legacy in with the 4 and CVT is a bit of a snoozer (although very comfortable and buick like, if thats your thing). The flat 6, however, is another matter entirely. I have a 2010 3.6R and the torque on that thing is surprising. yes, its only got 250something torque, but it has punch. the thing

always fond of these
