You know it’s possible to say things and not remember saying them because you grew up your entire life being able to say those things without repercussions or thinking about how your words/actions impact others. This is commonly known as privilege.

I wonder if Kinja can improve my workflow of aggregating all of the deep burns being posted about the horrendous formatting and comment system being imposed here. Why is a 3rd of my screen white space? Why is there a third party extension needed to make the underlying platform usable? Does the rest of the Internet

Cool, that’s exactly what Ernie said three years ago when people on Gawker complained about how bad Kinja was. Maybe would’ve been nice to implement at least some comment improvements over GMG stuff at launch. I’ve worked on websites and overseen redesigns and there’s no chance we’d release something this drastic with

Used Kinja in the past, stopped because it was so awful and ugly and I can’t block people or delete my posts. Yeah, I think my days as an AVC commenter have come to an end. So long and thanks for the Polack jokes. It’s been real.

It was marginally more polite than just telling us to go and fuck ourselves, I guess. Who gives a shit of you’ve fucked over a community more than a decade in the making as long a some rapist douchebag tech bro’s precious work flow gets one step sorter.

My problem is I already read Gizmodo, and I used to read io9, but what’s the point when there’s so much cross-posting, it’s like you’re reading the same site? Now AVclub is full of cross-posts that I already see on Gizmodo, and I *hate* it. I just want to see AVclub-specific content, please. How do I do this?

God help us all...

I can’t even with the amount of bullshit this is. Never again can we read old TV club reviews in order. I’m in the middle of catching up on a show and I’ve been completely locked out of viewing mid-series commentary and reviews. They don’t come up in a search, let alone beautifully listed with separate tabs for each

A comment system that lets you read others’ comments and easily interact with them? Preposterous.

btw I had to hit a tiny “replies” button to see this post.

Yeah, that’s what’s making me sad right now. I assumed they’d just shove Kinja into the good looking shell of the AV Club, not transform it into a full-on Gawker site. Sigh.

As an also long-term Kinja user, albeit one whose account got wiped out by this process, I can assure you that it’s at least as bad as everyone fears, probably worse.

Yeah, Kinja was originally developed as Nick Denton’s attempt to do a Digg/Reddit style news aggregation site. Then he tried to kind of make it LiveJournal. Then he decided to turn it into a CMS for his sites. All of this is because he had access to cheap overseas programming labor.

Well it worked and I’m here and Kinja still... not great. Who is happy with this site layout? How did the writers and editors for every blog here just say, yeah, 75% white space is a good aesthetic, we’re cool having no semblance of organization to search past topics.

Wow. Fuck this site.

Load more comments. Load more comments. Load more comments. Load more comments. Boy, this is fucking fun, huh?

Lol no.

Not editing comments is a feature. Not being able to browse through comments in chronological order is a feature. Not being able to nest comments is a feature. Not being able to load more than like five comments at once is a feature. A ton of empty white space so that you can only see at max four comments at a time is

Look at how dumb the word ‘our’ looks in this font. Nice fucking job on the fucking ‘u’, Kinja dumbasses.

Nah, that would be too user-friendly.
