That’s actually the term that Blizzard uses to describe HotS - a “team brawler”. Which it kinda is compared to other MOBAs like DotA and LoL, as there are a lot more teamfights that happen in HotS.

Well I guess that would make some sense.

I suspect that Yannick is probably fully aware that Blizzard (and a lot of the fans) REALLY hate it when you compare HotS to Smash Brothers and it was done as a sort of playful tweak of the nose to them.

Came here looking for these comments, I had wondered if the writer had even played the game after reading that statement. Like you don’t say that that Chess is like Skyrim because it has knights, kings and Towers.

Ya I guess, but i feel better wording could have been used like “Smash Bros. -style mascot MOBA”. The word brawler is what really threw me off.

It’s “smash bros-esque” in the way it compiles heroes from across all Blizz games, the same way Smash is made up of characters from many different Nintendo games.
