There is a very long video compilation on YouTube that seems to have compiled footage from both sides at once in the same battle. The tank crews sometimes don't have very good situational awareness and get repeatedly shot at by the same RPG crew when they repeatedly expose the vehicle around corners.

But when the

I agree with you there. Short of lugging around a great heavy APU to power the 'lazer' (insert Dr. Evil pic here), existing aircraft won't be blasting things with energy weapons anytime soon.

But it can't be denied these things have progressed very rapidly over the past decade or so, from clunky container-sized

TURDIS! Thanks that made my day!

Whoa! Is that the most compact tri-jet setup ever? Where's the exhaust for the center jet?

Regardless, its somewhat hilarious. Imagine someone on the receiving end not knowing that crucial detail and thinking the US has some sort of sub-orbital precision strike capability :)

I heard the armor is thinner up the back end :)

Discarding Sabots put on a great strip show as they reveal their long rod, ready for action :)

HEAT rounds... don't get me started lol.

I have seen a lot of 'tank dashcams' coming out of Syria over the past year. Some of which are incredibly jaw-dropping as you observe tanks dueling with RPG gunners in built up areas. You can see the RPG streak past less than foot away from the turret/camera!

You hit the nail right on the head - I love tracing the engineering evolution of aircraft and weapon systems over the past century, seeing how each succeeding concept developed upon another, and the bad ideas just got canned or made obsolete over time.

I daresay it's even relevant to the evolution of automobiles...

I am a feminist but I love warmongering machines and huge phallic objects streaking through the sky to produce ginormous orgasmic explosions. What does that make me?

Also I keep my feminist POV out of military blogs. What's there to complain about when fireworks is such good entertainment? :)

It's definitely bigger on the inside. But does it travel through time and space?

I was teaching my girlfriend a lot of stuff about (basic) aerodynamics and spaceflight concepts so she can expand her general knowledge and play physics sims like Kerbal Space Program. The desire to seek out general knowledge and the willingness to create and explore makes a -big- impact on a person!

I showed her

Those lumbering giants would steal any fireworks show!

Sweet! I was at Aviationist just a few hours ago, reading up on everyone's favourite stealth Black Hawk helicopters and speculated configurations.

I also find it that the current tactics utilized for F-22 deep strikes were somewhat well documented in very old sims/games such as Total Air War, which involved F-22s

I'm just counting down the years to when laser systems become offensive weaponry.

With the rate that experimental aircraft mounted lasers are being miniaturized, I don't think it's that far off. Starting with laser turrets on AC-130s omg.

I recently watched it (easily found on YouTube). It had great footage of the B-47 as well.

The -47s were so fast, compact and sleek compared to the "flying your house from the front porch" feel of the -36!

When questioned, he will probably reply, like "My ROFLcopter goes soi soi soi".

Lesson learnt - don't use the normal chopper. Take Blue Thunder out next time. It has Whisper Mode!

It's much better than what they used the Blue Thunder for during boring routine patrols :)

I came here (too late) to post this. Not all tracked vehicles are tanks!
