Wow... is this 1995?
I've got one and I have to say it's far worse than a good, old fashioned glass jug. It's plastic and not particularly good quality, covered in little scratches and stress fractures and UV degradation.
This should mention the main advantage of stacking over a single longer exposure; noise reduction. Since noise is random then stacking multiple exposures will have the effect of averaging it out reducing the amount of noise in the image.
Also, put your head against the floor so one of your eyes is looking almost parallel to the floor, and any objects will be easily spotted. Can be used in conjunction with the torch trick.
Guys come on, read the article. Last I heard there isn't an iPhone or Android phone with an 18 megapixel camera.
@GetOutOfBox: Guys, this isn't some technical hokey pokey. It's simple. It's equivalent to saying you can't copy a jpeg (obviously you can as you can always take a screen shot). Well imagine screen shot for a video. Yes it's that simple.
+1 Winsplit Revolution
@Modred189: upboat
@OzTardis: I got 404 on those links
@Chris Burrows: What is "good"?
@djmashedman: Maybe insect killer is actually just chalk!
Er, skip the middle man and put the pinhole directly in the body cap. That's the usual way to do this.
Can anyone see a 64bit download which isn't the 14 day free trial?
@Santos L Halper: You have many choices! Foxit, sumatra, now Nitro.
@Zhuzhu: Well they come in all sizes, from tens to hundreds of watts. This DIY one is only 60W. The only reason aquarium heaters stop at 20-30 degrees C is because that's what the thermostat is set to. Hack the thermostat to give a greater range and hotter temperatures. Sure it would need manual calibration but once…
Excellent project, but I wonder if it may be easier to hack something like an aquarium heater to do this.
@TheFu: I bet it can be done on the cheap. Lifehacker has shown us all what can be achieved with Ikea hacks.
I'm getting the old one still
