Jezebel, I'd love to see you use some nice graphic example with your posts—-show us some visual examples! For example, I'd love to see how the summer dress looks paired with tights and a jacket/sweater. I think that might be the meat that these posts can seem to lack at times...

@the.babe.wore.red: Zappo's! Type in "extended calf boots" (unfortunate name, I know). Also, Eddie Bauer tends to carry decently calfed boots around this time of the year.

I'm a teacher so I'm personally all for the fall wardrobe update. This year, I'd go with some nice 3/4 sleeve tees (solids and stripes) and a cute moto/military jacket. If you can swing it, a nice pair of Ecco or Keen flats are nice too.

One of the greatest triumphs of my teaching career so far is getting my AP English class (all girls school) to watch North and South in its entirety over the period of a whole school year. Some liked it more than others, but I think that we all fell for Patrick Swayze that year.

@Pennyfeather: I agree—-this episode really marked a big change in the respect that Joan's sexuality seemed to have commanded in the past. There were so many other cues that things seemed to be changing—-from the casualness of the copy boys' clothes (compared to Don and the others) to how stuffy Joan looked stuffed

I was not aware that "poontang" was part of the mid-sixties vernacular. Perhaps I should consult the OED...
