Nocturne from Fez was the first that popped to mind for me, too. It’s chiptune Chopin! Genius. But my favorite part of the Fez soundtrack is easily the ending of Sync.

A great nomination. I think my favorite is either Mine, Windbag, Mine or Build That Wall, but A Proper Story gives them a run for their money. I low-key think Build That Wall is one of the best protest songs of the decade — certainly the most prescient.

For another tragic case like this, see this article about Shannon Hurd. A life sentence for allegedly stealing $14, then the Angola medical system ignored two years of sick call requests before finally responding to symptoms of kidney cancer, by which point it had metastasized to his brain and became fatal. He died at

My GF is currently watching Criminal Minds from the beginning as her coronavirus escape watch. Now I have to decide whether to tell her about this and ruin it for her or let her have her (morally and aesthetically reprehensible even before this but what can you do) guilty pleasure.

Gorogoa is the only one I know of.

A little on the nose that they designed it so he can only get about 25% of the way up the flagpole at the end of each state.

On the flipside, the slot-machine factor in procedurally generated games tends to keep me from shutting it down and going to sleep. Seeing what the next room will hold in Binding of Isaac or Slay the Spire or the like tends to keep me playing far longer than a more linear game.

Yeah, I broke down in therapy this morning talking about the “good damage” conversation between Diane and PC. I had no idea how much it resonated with it me.

Never thought of that -- great point.

There was an even earlier program that played pranks on your cursor, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was called. Used to install it on the computer in the early 90s (I think?) when I knew my dad had to work.

Facility from Goldeneye and Basement I from Isaac are the winners for me, but honorable mention to Irenicus’s Dungeon. The number of time I’ve started BGII, finished the Dungeon, gotten bored, given up... and then rerolled a new character...

yuuuuuup

Came here to say Facility. Must’ve tried that 200 times my freshman year of college before finally getting the cheat.

Yeah if we’re including roguelikes then Basement I from Isaac and Caves 1-1 from Spelunky blow everything else out of the water.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking -- not sure I’d go with a multiplayer game in that situation...
