Replaying Bastion to see if it’s as good as I remember. (Early report: it is.) Also a nice long Gloomhaven session on Sunday.

Yes, that’s an even better comparison than evolution. They were clearly designed to have some neuroplasticity, but with what limits? And given that their brains are at least somewhat networked together, why couldn’t that neuroplasticity lead to telepathic skills that humans can’t gain?

Yeah, that puts that scene in a somewhat different light. I had assumed that Maeve seeing the doll and hearing the story from Hector were planted by Ford, but it could have been more organic than that. There was so little attention to the tribes in the first season — just that scene and the Ghost Nation brutality, as

I read somewhere that Kissy, the character William scalped in that first episode, was intended to have a bigger role. But the actor, Eddie Rouse, passed away after filming the pilot, so they rewrote things. I wonder if we would have gotten some of this material earlier otherwise, or they would have let on that the

That was my interpretation, too. The tribe was originally designed as something of an experiment, then the Ghost Nation narrative was put on top of it but the experiment remained mostly forgotten. When Ake died, the techs said they were supposed to call “the boss.” That could mean the woman who ordered the update, but

I got a very similar pen as a present. It writes well, but it was too small to write with comfortably, even for my normal-sized hands. That said, it was a slightly different model, so that may not be the case with these. Just something to check before you buy.

Good god, is that Jeff Bezos’s music?

Was I the only person who wanted it to end after the antepenultimate episode? They’ve all [SPOILER ALERT] decided what they want badly enough to be willing to die, and set off toward it, and they’re all possibly going to die and it’s completely ambiguous and the most fitting possible ending.

My favorite so far:

Many shows now considered classics in their own right—The Simpsons, Laverne & Shirley, Frasier, The Colbert Report, etc.—began life on other shows

I thought Wesley and Fred/Illyria had great chemistry, so I was surprised when they had zero chemistry in Much Ado About Nothing. Really surprising how bad Denisof was in it, when everyone else was so strong.

We got it around $180 a few months ago and have not been disappointed. We’re about 20 hours in and have barely scratched the surface. If you think you’re going to like it and play through most/all of it, it’s definitely worth the price—$140 likely works out to less than $1/hour, and that’s before you split it among

I played a monk in PoE 1 and it was super boring. A fighter without the fun of choosing equipment. But YMMV.

Yeah, the only way I got there was through some runs dedicated to getting those achievements (on normal difficulty, if I remember correctly). It’s a fun way to force yourself to change your playstyle, sort of like the Onan’s Streak accuracy challenge.

Little-known fact: Spelunky is garbage.

I finally uninstalled it for good last year after hitting 3,000,000% (full completion on all three saves), and I’m desperately fighting the urge to reinstall for the new expansion. So good, so terrifyingly addictive.

I’m so jealous that 160 hours is the most you’ve ever played something! I have about that much in Spelunky and I don’t even like the damn thing...

The slow reload time for the Brains is what drove me crazy. There were plenty of harder or more awkward challenges (wtf, Suicide King), but having to wait several seconds to between firing, even between rooms, was maddening. And you had to play all the way through The Lost! Jerks.

Brains was my least favorite challenge. Congrats on never having to deal with it again.

Must not reinstall Isaac. Must not reinstall Isaac. Must not reinstall Isaac. Must not reinstall Isaac. Must not reinstall Isaac.
