I've somehow stuck it out until now, often turning it off with 10 or 15 mins left out of boredom - and realizing that I, too, didn't care about whatever convoluted conspiracy about Beckett's was going on. The completist in me won't let it die…
At the same time, without Becket, maybe the show can at least go out in a

Honestly, we saw that S3 was up and I keep saying to myself I'll get to it soon and then finding that there are an infinite number of better ways to spend a few hours. It's a shame that its lunacy became so incoherent.

Oh, I'm sure he's fine, rolling in all that Hemlock Grove money.

Agreed - they're pretty gracious, and your heart can't help but melt a little* when they bring out a young kid who delivers vaudeville banter or an old-school pro to perform tricks he invented himself 30 years ago.

Sounds like a perfect weekend. :)

I found it to be such a slow, cumulative burn, especially as I watched it on HBO Go like two weeks after I watched Band of Brothers. I agree that it's harder to get into, especially given its structure. I ended up likening it the Iliad, whereas BoB is more The Odyssey.

Hey guys - I hate being this guy, but in the future, could you keep an eye on potential spoilers when selecting a main image for this post? I'm one of the many who are (semi)binge-watching Daredevil this weekend, and while the whole world knows the Puinsher is a big part of the season, this picture seems to be from

Tied!

"The Showrunners: A Season Inside the Billion-Dollar, Death-Defying, Madcap World of Television's Real Stars," by David Wild is a great peak behind the curtain.

Next week, Kate says she can't stand the charade any more! And this week, Castle was all, "let's let sleeping dogs lie" about his lost time… And then he reneged on it - and right when we were so close to the minor triumph of a Case of the Week with humor and winking! Jerks.

I'll be honest, I watch it every week and I had to Google what "Loksat" was. I thought you'd somehow mangled typing "looks at."

As someone inexplicably still in the Castle game, I can tell you from firsthand experience, things are rough. A few times I thought they were about to start treating the "dark" conspiracies like Benson's kid on SVU, ie, something occasionally mentioned but never seen (they've even ignored a new supporting cast

It's that level of professionalism that's apparent in every scene.

Oh - I agree. I was more trying to get at how all over the place the show seems to increasingly be, and how it's not helped when it airs in short 8-ep bursts separated by almost 3 months.

I might be alone in this, but I have to say, I sort of preferred the simpler days of this season with the big bad being Pandora being a malevolent lady demon/force/whatever, who was roaming the town wreaking havoc. I think they probably could have tightened things up and just let her be the big threat.

Right? Like 45 seconds of that hot minute in the first season, I was like, "Fantastic - this is the niche I need filled," but jeez, the past two seasons have been tough. And on top,of that, abbreviated seasons and now on Fridays… Yikes.

Ha - great minds! If it helps, I mistyped 1974 at a certain point, then edited the comment. I mean, either way… But yeah, Leeds says 1794 and then Abbie quietly exclaims, "200 years before…" and it's like, uh, c'mon you don't even need a research staff for that one, guys.

I do hope someone told Abbie that there were movie projectors prior to 1994.

I read way back that a kind of technical reason for this (as also seen in Apatow movies) is the fact of the improv aspect — they have to light everything evenly because so much is kind of made up on the spot, so they have to cover all of the angles and it averages out to bleh.
