Usually when people say it’s better for the environment to buy used, I dismiss it because someone has to buy new for you to buy used, but this case is very different. Hopefully there will be a remedy for these cars and they won’t all end up going to the scrapper, because that would be an enormous environmental shame.
In other words, just lock the car from the inside before exiting and closing the door.
Personally, I’ve always felt a reciprocating saw was the best tool to get it off there. Give me a Sawzall with a good metal cutting blade and I’d have a boot off in 30 seconds.
