My first proper job was four nine hour days, then on Friday we’d finish at 12, unless there was a big job on, in which case the rest of the day was overtime (sometimes mandatory, sometimes not). Finishing that early on a Friday was great (especially when I’m sat here waiting for 5:30 and pub’o’clock to roll around).
