I simply cannot imagine exiting a vehicle without setting the handbrake. I own only manual transmission cars, but nevertheless, when I drive an automatic, before even shifting to ‘park,’ I shift to neutral, set the brake, make sure the car doesn’t roll, then shift to park—every time I am driving.
