Its not short sighted at all, and your comparison is absolutely ridiculous. As I said lane splitting is unnecessary, there is literally no need for it. At all. A bike can follow the flow of traffic just like a car. Riding down the line between the lane goes against every rule of the road drivers are trained to expect.

The difference is that when you’re in traffic, the speed differential is greater when you split.
