I'm lazy - too many clicks...
great, now I gotta find my harpoon gun...
It would be awesome if they could make a "pop up" rail gun on top of a nuclear powered submarine. Just the end of the barrel and sensors could surface next to an enemy city long enough to pop off a few rounds and then submerge before anyone could detect and counter it's location...

As an inland sea kayaker, I've been making my own maps with layered google maps screen shots in photoshop for years. It's nice to have a semi-transparent topo layer on top of your road map and small inset maps for tide charts, driving directions, etc... I generally just use a big waterproof map case to keep it on deck.
neat - my computer desk and pretty much everything around my home office is Ikea, so why wouldn't my desktop be Swedified too?
I'm tellin ya, baby Skynet is gonna graduate from playin air pong to lobbing grenades soon...
Whoa, no matter what life problems we have, do not abuse your robot - it will end badly...

As an industrial design graduate I love seeing the ideation (design process) for big budget sci-fi flix...
Having grown up in suburban FL and rural NC, I an safely say that lifestyle and attitudes are the biggest factors in changing this trend. It's not like a low-cal salad isn't available in even small towns, but for the same price you can get a yummy deep fried calorie bomb. Sure there aren't as many bike lanes or public…
Are those red hood stripes homage to the Mach 5?
It's kinda sad, but I don't have that much sympathy for a cheap copy. They would have copied the real thing down to the very bolts if they could - just like the B-29s they "proudly" reverse engineered.
I don't have much $ to spare, but would like to repurpose an old PC for this. Would a Dell XPS with a 1.86 ghz core 2 duo, 3 gigs ddr2 ram, Win XP, and a geforce 8600 GT be enough to push decent video to a 42" HDTV? I'd probably rock free Boxee, Hulu, and my streaming Netflix Acct.
@Melinda Serven: I use freegeek here in portland as well. Great staff and I feel less guilty about getting rid of a perfectly working, but outdated, piece of tech, knowing that it will be used again.
It even comes with your own "members only" jacket!
my resolutions are 12x1024, 1680x10x50, and 1920x1080
I view my neat freak OCD as a battle to control my immediate environment. That said, it's usually a losing battle when your partner has given up.
Umm, no! Sure, a high end smartphone can do lots of cool things on the go, but it's not a replacement for serious work or play.
