I would build my own car! I've already designed my series hybrid leaning sports commuter for my master's thesis back in 02. All I need is some help from local engineering students to built what I could only do in 3D.

Our whole society is built around cheap gas, from the westward expansion, to urban sprawl, the SUV craze, and lack of bike lanes and good public transport. It will hurt initially, but hopefully high fuel prices will force us to be more compact, efficient, and somewhat humble. (Which is so un-American...)

@ EMPM. I totally agree, Id love a small lightweight and environmentally friendly vehicle just for daily commuting, but it's pretty scary to be surrounded by oblivious drivers in huge SUVs.
