@prndl: As the long time owner of a 97 Type SH Prelude daily driver, I have to agree with half of your comments. Yes it is a reliable, good looking, and fun to drive car. No it doesn't have AWS - it doesn't even have LSD. You won't get mid 30's mpg, it's only 200 hp at the crank if everything is in perfect shape, and…
Nice! I pass by those old Frenchies on the way home every day and had always meant to snap some pics to submit to DOTS. Guess some one more motivated beat me to it. Wonderful designs for that time and nice to see that someone likes collecting / hoarding em. They never move though... Maybe late at night or maybe just…
ze goggles, dey do na ting!
@Storkme - so would buying a manual treadmill be better, since your momentum is moving the rollers instead of a motor?
@ Brownie - so you're saying the nsx didn't stay true to it's roots - maybe in proportions and mid-engine layout? Well I guess it had to change to keep up, but I hear what you're saying... Hope your Prelude is still giving you joy.
I would build my own car! I've already designed my series hybrid leaning sports commuter for my master's thesis back in 02. All I need is some help from local engineering students to built what I could only do in 3D.
Our whole society is built around cheap gas, from the westward expansion, to urban sprawl, the SUV craze, and lack of bike lanes and good public transport. It will hurt initially, but hopefully high fuel prices will force us to be more compact, efficient, and somewhat humble. (Which is so un-American...)
@layabout reliable asian turbo manual rival wagons - umm WRX? (well the previous version was a real wagon) Although here in Portland every other car is a subaru. Id rather go for the Sabbaru to be more unique, if they still make em. That veedub is pretty nice looking, but that price tag and past reliability scares…
Yeah, smart sharpen all the way...
Its a good looking concept but it does look more like a CRX replacement. It doesn't fit the angular slab-sided low and wide classic look of a prelude, but the prelude platform traditionally pushed a lot of cutting edge technologies like vtec, 4 wheel steering, Active torque distribution. My fiancee and I only have one…
I already designed this like 6 years ago and mine leans into the corners... [phrancis.com]
@ Tanshanomi - Thanks! I put a lot of work into that design and animation. I really wanted to use a series hybrid and incorporate leaning into corners like the carver - and this in 2002 way before the volt and the whole green car trend...
@ EMPM. I totally agree, Id love a small lightweight and environmentally friendly vehicle just for daily commuting, but it's pretty scary to be surrounded by oblivious drivers in huge SUVs. While they won't be outlawed in this country, Im actually hoping rising gas prices will eventually make them extinct...
General Lee's plastic based cousin?
klok rocks! nice looking intuitive interface and easy to use overall. I've been using it for over a month now and it keeps my project hours very organized. Dragging the start stop tabs are a little finicky and imprecise though...
I never got rid of my 97 Prelude SH and although it's got some miles on her, shes still way fun to drive and still gets decent mileage. My fiancee doesn't like it for practical reasons, but we share it as our only car and she does like driving stick...
Brutally Banglized Veyron?
I guess the wedge shape of sports cars are great for aerodynamics and a safety device. Better to displace the other object in the way instead of being compacted into it...
I've always heard that the TSX was like a 4 door replacement for the axed Prelude. This one just keeps moving farther away from that fun little car. Even though I'm now a grown up home owner, I'll still keep my Prelude SH...
