I find trash-talking to be generally hurtful and abusive, even among friends. It can be taken as bullying. I mostly don’t use it and I don’t like being in situations where I feel like I’m being forced to use it in order to fit in. People who are too liberal with it don’t stay preferred friends of mine for long.
