8 years ago I had a Blackberry Storm, which some will claim (not without reason) was the worst smart phone ever, and it was smart enough to do this. You hold the phone vertically or horizontally, and it shot a landscape oriented video.

I know this has been done to death but I will not relent until I see no more vertical videos on youtube.
