The money wasn't a waste because the Research and Development that went into it had big payoffs for them. Just look at their new engine.

Oh I know it's important to have integrity, but sometimes people go pretty far when they call out the site or authors for their mistakes. Sometimes they deserve it though.

Sounds like they gave you an old but stable (as in doesn't totally crash on you) build of the game. I wouldn't be too worried about the final build. Trust them.
