@ericesque: Oh, there is that side. Any projects I write that are modular tend to go like that. Figure out what I need to run the barebones system, how the plugin architecture should work, and implement that, and then each plugin is treated as a separate project, but that's blurring the boundries between one project

@headclone: Oh, certainly. I know I wouldn't be as productive if I didn't have my to-do list embedded on my desktop, or be able to see when I'm free as easily without my next week's timetable (Taking information from my to-do list) there either. And, of course, weather reports are always useful. I don't think having 5

@ericesque: I think you're misunderstanding what I used to do: Sit in front of an IDE with a vague idea and start typing. I know too many others do the same. TDD is a half-way house, you can have the "That sounds like a cool feature" or just winging it, but each feature is still required to be planned out in detail

@headclone: That one's easier to type.

This holds true in programming, too. I find it almost impossible to start writing something without planning it out comprehensively first - you can't write elegant code if you're not even sure what issues you'll face.

@headclone: Yes. Plural of information.

@djsmiley2k: It could be, yeah. Every little helps, though, right?

@djsmiley2k: A sat nav -is- the thing worth stealing. It probably has your home address in it, and you can guess nobody's home.

@TheFu: What're you using to log traffic? I'm having a bit of an issue with sudden massive increases in outwards network usage, but unfortunately it seems to be fairly random (So turning them off in sequence isn't helpful.) I've used QoS to slow non-http traffic the hell down, but even so that's not a great solution.

@bbutle01: A mix between backed up config files and portable apps where appropriate, and restoring from a disk image rather than reinstalling the OS from scratch.

I don't do anything important enough to require security, so no antivirus and no encryption. I do, however, make use of incremental backups, programming projects in git repos, and using dropbox for a lot of things. Basically, I want to be able to wipe my main HDD and be back to where I should be within an hour. I

@Flail: I don't really think that's any better. It's not the parties I dislike (First Past The Post seems an odd way to govern an entire country), just the liarspoliticians that make up those parties.

@Firesphere: Nice. I'll be pretty happy if I ever get to where you are now :)

@Phoshi: Oh yeah, and fuck this government. I voted Lib Dem to keep the conservatives out, and because they seemed to have a handle on the importance of the internet, and what'd they do? Join up with the conservatives to gain power, and let the digital economy bill straight through. The latter being something they

@Mr_Bloggerific: As somebody who's been a PC gamer all their life, and so far has had no interest in any console exclusive games... RDR has come as a bit of a shock. A game I want that I can't play, and people say it's brilliant :(

Woooooooooo! Ready! Ready! To! Fri! Day!

Nice list, I didn't know about the file:stream syntax. However, Control-Z is a stupid geek trick now? :P

@Terry: I do it on 7.
