I like these trucks but don’t know too much about them. Can you help me understand why the 114 HP 22-RE is so much more desireable than a 150 HP v6? Fuel economy? reliability?

It’s the “wrong” engine and trans, but a 22RE with a manual in this condition would easily fetch five figures.

But the price for those (now domestic) goods goes up, because they’re still more expensive to produce here. Since the manufacturing capacity doesn’t already exist here, demand outstrips supply, and the prices climb even more. Money doesn’t grow on trees, so people can afford less goods and the standard of living…

i believe the conversation is about the mass market, not luxury cars where cost/consumption is not an issue.
