My bff is dark Sicilian and is mistaken for Arab or Persian often. My SO is northern Italian but probably from when Italy occupied parts of Yugoslavia so he looks more Eastern Europe/Roma. To be Italian means a lot of different things depending on what time period we’re talking about.
