Counterpoint: EVs are good for your pocket books because there are no oil changes and expensive maintenance costs associated with an ICE car. My Spark EV cost $0 in maintenance for the 2 years I had it. My Volt had 1 free oil change from the dealership plus a set of new tires in the 3 years I owned it.

Go drive one. Or better yet, go rent one and see. I got a Camry for a week during a trip for work and it surprised me how quick it was and how relatively stable it is at high speeds/corners. The steering is dead muted and felt disconnected but the car drives pretty well.
