I’m not offering a value judgment on whether virtue signaling based on undergrad is stupid or intelligent. I’m offering my anecdotal experience with respect to Harvard and the reasons I was told to apply, despite it having an inferior academic reputation in my field of study.

When I was checking out MIT (for mechanical engineering) I visited Harvard at the same time. The students in the admissions office told me to apply to Harvard (again, for mechanical engineering) for the connections, because that was what college was all about.

The fact that she’s a teenager becomes lesscritical, but I still find myself bored/disinterested in the high school romance aspects of the show.  The show reminds you in various ways that it is meant for younger folks to relate to, but the key storylines have moved from "can I date this boy and get good grades" to

Nobody asked for it, but here’s the 16 February 2020 worst cooks recap:

True crime miniseries remain generally out of mywheelhouse, but I have to admit Mcmillions has been more interesting than I expected.

It has been a slow grind to get through The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina because my spouse wants to watch with me (I think) but has been disquieted by body horror lately. We finally finished the season, and she was not pleased to endure more broken bones and mild Eldritch horrors instead of asimple spooky

I can’t remember who they tried to sub in for Knightly and Bloom, was that the actor from The Maze Runner's function? I do remember liking the first movie so much I watched it twice in the same all nighter.

Man, I could absolutely go for some dumb fun cartoons tonight. I'm ready, Fox/Disney.

Once again, the recap nobody asked for. Skip my comment if it bothers you, dude who commented last week.

I might miss the show live, but I’ve been inspired to put some Tenacious D on, so that seems like a net plus.

I don't reply directly to greys, but yes, of course I drink a lot of coffee. I'm a human in the year 2020.

The football surrounding the J.Lo halftime show was sure competitive until it wasn’t, right? It was so significant a cultural event that your favorite competition actually moved its timeslot for the night.

Nothing especially poignant from me. I chased this episode with some mindless cartoons, and I still woke myself up at 4 AM weeping about Chidi. Then this morning I read the last line of the review and wept again.

I mean that’s where the SciFi miniseries did it for their 3 parter (before the days of SyFy)

I’m still watching, so you get another recap of Worst Cooks in America:

Feelings about the blood red road:

I think it’s a fluke but the youths I know from roller derby recently informed me that Halsey is good, and that makes me a little excited for SNL this weekend.

After last week I wondered how long it would take them to be put in charge of heaven and uh...not long.

The door Jasson went through for his bumper cars with monkeys can travel through time and space to anything you desire, so they kind of had that part covered.

Two of them have passed the test on the first try, so...[[name redacted]] has another tough choice to make, I'd guess.
