The dad defending his son should be considered along the lines of a lawyer defending his client. Many will just do it automatically. Doesn’t mean his opinion or arguments are actually worth anything.

The son committed a crime that created two partial and emotive sides. The dad is clearly on the son’s side, because it’s his son. You’re ignoring the parent child relationship and leaping to a witch hunt like conclusion that anyone who offers support to the accused is probably guilty of the same offence.

Considering the father is accused or suspected of zero rapes, he doesn’t need to justify any of his behaviour. This is about his son. Parents will do almost anything for their children, it's not unusual.
