I wonder when people will realize that stealing someone’s ideas and using them to make money for 5 years running leads game designers to think they’re assholes?

It’s not blatant posters. It’s literally TPC’s art. Not even fanart. They’re going after them because they’ve been doing this for 5 years making a profit off of their IP. I don’t doubt that Nintendo’s sent a few Cease and Desist letters in the past years.
“Oh no, someone used The Pokemon Company’s ideas without permission for 5 years to make a profit! And now they want compensation from the people that stole their IP? What a wicked company!”
Does cancelling it once take away the profit they made off of the company’s IP from previous years? I didn’t think so. Call it fandom, call it whatever, but they made a profit off of someone else’s ideas for 5 years unlawfully. They deserve a lawsuit.
Or, you know, they could just ask for permission..... I’m sure Nintendo and TPC would have been fine with some free PR and royalties...
Here’s the perspective. You are a company who’s IP has been stolen by 2 guys running a company and making a profit off of it for 5 years. Is it fair for someone to make a profit off of your idea? Conscience, hard work, and law say no. And that’s basically the line in this case. When you let people use your IP and…
The problem is that they stole the mascots. Heck, if they had written a letter asking to borrow the mascots for the party, this whole thing could have been avoided. But when you steal a company’s ideas to make a profit off of it, that’s illegal, and for good reason. Yes, they wanted fun, yes they should have fun, but…
The problem is that they used the company’s mascots without permission for monetary gain in an annual event for 5 years. The whole point of trademarking is so people can’t use your ideas to make money.
“Oh no, a company sued someone for using their trademarked ideas and characters without permission for 5 years in a row! What a stupid lawsuit!”
