You’re mostly right here. The steaks need to sit for at least 10 min. After I remove the steaks I spoon the butter/steak reduction and pour it on top of the sitting steaks. Clock 10 min and get the rest of the dish ready for dinner. 

Do not add oil to the pan. If you do be ready for the fire alarm. Simply take the steaks let them be room temp. then add to the pan which should be HOT.
