How is there a business case for this and it’s cadre of likewise obscenely expensive brethren, when there doesn’t seem to be a business case for a mid-engine sports car WELL equipped at 35,000$ with 350 horsepower/tq, and less than 3500lbs?

It’s more than assumptions. The EU economies did improve thanks to the common market. I get the political issues re self government (and we could argue endlessly) but the economically, the EU is a success in the long run. It did bring prosperity.

The Fiat 500L is a piece of shit. One of the few modern cars that genuinely sucks. The seats are crap, it handles like shit, the suspension is wallowing and unconfortable at the same time, it’s noisy and underpowered, it’s poorly built and it’s ugly.

You should love the 4wd Sinpar Renault 4. The Marreau brothers ran the Dakar with one in the late 70's.
