There was simply no reason for her appearance this week if she is done. It makes no sense. Just as Mischa HAS to have a role to play, you don't track him from USSR to suburban DC over the course of like 8 episodes for him to go home. BOGUS if true and this show is NOT bogus.

You think that's sadder than taking out the Cinnabon trash?

Yeah it was properly used to portray a poor existence but in fact that would be a healthy and tasty meal. Just not to western standards. I will often eat a baked potato with just salt and pepper because I don't need the extra fat in butter or sour cream or whatever. It's yummy without them! The skins are really tasty.

I think the point is EVERYONE is getting tired of this shit, Philip, Elizabeth, Oleg, Paige, Stan, Oleg's parents,Gabriel, Tuan, …. that is the whole point of this season. The disaffection is wide and deep. And someone is going to turn. Someone is going to have that last straw break his back. I think it's Philip.

There's NO WAY Henry is being written out of the show, it is not how things happen on The Americans, and Henry is THE American in The Americans. No no they are setting the scene for something big. Henry will not be Paige. Henry will fight for his family if he has to though.

Funny! But there's NO WAY Henry is being written out of the show, it is not how things happen on The Americans, and Henry is THE American in The Americans. No no they are setting the scene for something big. Henry will not be Paige. Henry will fight for his family if he has to though.

I think she is a KGB double agent They know Stan and Adderholt have been approaching soviets left and right, many of them will have reported the approaches. SO they got one of their people to dangle herself in front of them…

I sort of assumed they were giving her a small stipend of some sort until she was able to work. Sure her food and apartment are taken care of, but no one is going to be happy with no spending money at all. And the work as much for her mental health so she won't be so lonely and feel useless, and can make friends; not

Not subversive and not a guard per se. But she's in possession of a lot of info about Directorate S personnel and has contacts in FBI counterintelligence. For all they know she's got the names of FBI personnel at the embassy from her prior work.

Thanks! I appreciate they are setting a mood and they are also playing to some stereotypes. And agreed about the Burov's but we know Martha and that's not an apartment she would have She would decorate it more tastefully, etc. Good to have some first hand knowledge.

Oh right, but that really is my point. She has people who come by to help her out, I would really expect (the CIA would do this in the US with a defector) someone who is a roommate and with her full time to help her adjust and take her temperature.

Hmmm not really. I googled it and checked the character lists so I don't get the reference.

I've been thinking about this seriously now… If you think they brought Martha back just for sentiment or even the scene with Gabriel; if you think Henry is being written out of the story because they don't have a role for him to play that matters; you have not been watching this show for the past four years.

Agreed and to boost that point,if they didn't know what to do with Henry they wouldn't need to do anything but have him keep playing video games…

And the thing is, if you get too busy you drop things, you make mistakes; deadly mistakes in this line of work.

I thought he DID say that? At least, some character did!

The Travel Agency scenes reminded me once again of how impossibly over-tasked the couple is. They keep up with the wheat conspiracy by flying out of town regularly; they service (we are reminded ) Kimmie's tape changes, they listen to tapes, they write reports, isten to the shortwave for instructions, they do

I know for privileged people (in a society of strictly equals) there were special store where foreign goods were available. Not to the average Josip and Svetlana.

But I think Chris has to be real; otherwise her dad was an illegal as a teen and now an alum who ca write a recommendation for Henry…I mean it's just a stretch too far. Chris' dad is no airliner pilot he's got to be an important guy in his own right. The whole family has to be legitimate.

Well RED throw pillows anyway. How could they object?
