You are correct. These seem to be pretty weak plot points. Except I don't really see Gaad's wife disagreeing. Stan however is genuinely sympathetic to Oleg and remember he has some secrets yet to hide that would motivate him to keep Oleg out of US clutches.

Another thing I like so much about this show is that you can float a dozen different possibilities and have no idea what will really happen. Taking the other side, she has worked in FBI counterintelligence for a LONG time and she must have picked up some tradecraft, ideas about how things are done. At some point she

It's possible they are trying for Henry. I could see this being the straw that breaks Philip's back, he goes to Stan; Stan has to tell Henry who his parents really are.

"… you can ignore my existence from a distance!"

The comment was sarcasm. the KGB would want it but the Jennings don't. So far, that means the KGB gets him.

:-D

Elizabeth, sadly: "Oh. Henry is going to need one when he goes to Vermont… A big one. Maybe an aluminum one like William had…"

She can be, but I see her much more affected by the people she screws. Her desire to help Tuan with is loneliness; her vulnerability when Gorp is seen with another woman; even though it's a tough love she is very protective of Paige. She is reluctant to do that which harms Philip even when it's a question of duty.

Well that's definitely food for thought. The one thing I am absolutely sure of is that Henry is not being written out of the show.

I just do not see THIS show writing characters off. They've been SAVING Henry for something important. Philip's sons are a huge theme especially as the choices and tradeoffs between family and espionage are becoming more and more bitter and hollow.

It has occurred to me that they have approached so many soviets, and many of those approaches have surely been reported; she may actually be a plant by the KGB. If so she's a good one. But KGB is not done trying to recruit Stan anymore than CIA is done trying to recruit Oleg.

Actually I agree with you, Philip avoided that hurt and I think it would have been really too much for his conscience to honeypot a girl Paige's age. But my first thought was "17! Wow that's a problem!"

How do you know that? There's a whole season that hasn't been shot yet.

Actually I thought her life was pretty unchanged from Washington DC pre-Clark. The apartment in DC was prettier. She had makeup. But I think they really overdid the drab factor this week.

Cuz they don't emphasize potato production. Too vulnerable to sabotage. But potatoes provide almost everything you need to survive and thrive.

I feel that the show all season has been about being disillusioned. I had said everyone — except Henry was disillusioned and I think now Henry is too. Think about it. Philip, Elizabeth, Paige, Stan, Tuan, Pasha, Evgenia, Oleg, his parents…some may have been there before but who ISN'T disillusioned now? With USSR, with

I think she is. She has in ways changed more than anyone on the show.

I do not believe it. Henry is THE American in The Americans. And this is not a show that ships people off to get them out of the way; you could ask Martha or Nina.

As I noted earlier in this thread, I think they overdid the drab thing. I know Russsia was not a place of great joy at the time but really…they must have yellow, red, blue dyes anyway…not one thing there was not in the range of gray or browns or looked at all modern..

Even if she'd never met Clark.
