I actually expected they'd put someone who is a KGB agent as a roommate to help her with the adjustment, loneliness, and just keep track of her.

I know Russia was not a place of great joy at the time, but I think they overdid the drabness. I am sure that something in the range of Yellow, blue, pink, or red would be found in homes.
And how sad. Our son would rather be in a fancy orphanage than here. They don't quite get it. But that's nothing new.
I don't see it ether, it is exactly soap opera. And it isn't necessary. Oleg already has one brother whose existence was confusing for him, what would adding Philip to that do for the show or the plot, or anything else?
Intentional use of the term by the writers. Nothing on this show is to be taken for granted.
And I think at some level Martha knows he did care about her it wasn't just an act; because it wasn't, after all.
"One for Tuan, one for Kimmie…now who have I forgotten?"
EXACTLY! Age of consent in VA is 16. She's 17.
And stuffing the rest into a suitcase.
Kinda the WHOLE POINT of the series when you think about it. Conflicts between work and family.
Kimmie is 17 and the age of consent in VA is 16. He is gona run out of excuses not to have sex with her.
This show does not forget characters and does not throw them away. Every one who was around for any length of time at least got to die in an interesting and important way. The meeting between Gabriel and Martha is important in at least that it tells us Gabriel is lonely and can't retire and really did care about…
And there will be more. Martha will probably save Oleg. Or Henry. Hard to be sure which.
I think Martha will somehow save Oleg.
First of all we are far from done with Martha. I don't know the exact role she will play but she has a role to play. Second, I hope the writers have no such goal for Henry, it will be the biggest letdown of the entire series. This show does NOT waste characters and does NOT write them off. Henry is the American in The…
But things HAVE been happening. So slowly perhaps you don't quite see them. All KINDS of things have been happening off camera as Henry showed us. Soon, soon the many waving raveled ends of this fabric will weave themselves into a formidable skein.
I told you Henry was the American in the Americans. Now wouldn't a boy who hobnobs with Senator's and government officials' children be a great asset to any KGB Family?
I don't think you can really get a 14 year old deep cover directorate S agent to handle the boy…if Chris was a lot older than him yes. But what can you really expect from a kid his age as a handler? Way too risky and too unlikely.
His new job. His boss' admonition not to discuss things with his father. His recognition that the system of food distribution is corrupt.
Henry is being groomed for a major pivotal role at the end. He is the American in the Americans. He is the kid who hit the pervert over the head with a beer bottle to save his sister. He fights for his family.
