Well maintained, the lower-power models are fairly reliable though any repairs will likely be four figures, as you say. $4.5k cars are easily closer to $6k roadworthy if there’s any deferred maintenance, but sometimes you get lucky;

My ex-wife and I did a self drive vacation in Ireland quite a few years ago.  The closest we got to Donegal was Sligo.  Too bad we didn’t have to time to check it out.
