One serial killer per season is tough, too. These guys are supposed to be good at their jobs. Graham and his tics wouldn't be worth the trouble if it took him that long to catch a serial killer.

A lot of stories of straight men being seduced by gay men. Long shower scenes that linger on the musculature of the actors. Shot in digital. Terrible production values.

For a while, as an angry young Filipino film critic, I kind of despised Roger Ebert. Primarily because commenters on my reviews would keep telling me I was wrong because Ebert said something different. It bugged me because one: Ebert gave Knowing four stars, and two: these commenters probably didn't care what Ebert

I read it as Cassie being the one tipping off the cops about the body in the mine in the first place.

I preferred the first one, with its stupid, multi-level Joe base and kid-fighting. It was like watching an eight year-old smashing his action figures together. This one was like that one dude who wears camo all the time, showing off his collection of intricately posed Joes on a shelf behind glass.

I thought the film would be a lot meatier. I feel like it just stops at the idea that certain people are just born evil. The film says as much during the opening narration, and the themes never really progress from there. There's a lot more to unpack.

I just saw this. It's…disorienting. But in the best way possible, I think.

Can we stop for a second to talk about Sheldon's food? That stuff looked pretty great, although the connection to Filipino food was sometimes tenuous at best.

The revenge movie framework is exactly what makes the movie work for me. It frames the entire hunt for Bin Laden as a national revenge narrative, with Maya representative of the worst impulses that come with a search for outright vengeance. The thing is, just as it always is in the best revenge stories, no one really

I could see Sheldon getting away with just making some sort of shaved ice dish. Or purple yam ice cream.

I wasn't surprised at all. Denny Meyer's reaction to sinigang is typical. It is a magical soup.

This might be heresy, but that Adele song puts me right to sleep.

In general, the film kind of suffers from Bond not having backup. One would think MI6 would scramble everyone to the inquiry once they knew that Bardem was headed there to kill M. But no. That is not the way of the Bond.

Nah you pretty much nailed it. I think they played their themes a little broad, but it's a just a really good film.

@avclub-067dd151d15782b75bab063a6f3d5c4e:disqus As with everywhere else, majority of that Muslim population down South is not violent. It's just a few assholes making it terrible for everyone.

It could be that I was just joking. And mostly just reacting to the Survivor preview that made it out like Caramoan was snake-shark-storm island. Place is damn near paradise if you ask me.
