@avclub-749a8e6c231831ef7756db230b4359c8:disqus Point taken. Thank you for fucking us more gently than the others did. We genuinely appreciate it. Look! We're still speaking the language!

You already did. In 1898. Treaty of Paris. You screwed us over bad.

Suck it, America?

I saw it last night and I really liked it. There's a lot of set up to wade through, but once it gets rolling, it's a lot of fun. The comparisons to Star Wars and Raiders is pretty accurate, I think.

The Analyze Phish payoff was amazing.

Vic Diaz was a brilliant actor. It's almost unfortunate that he took on all those international roles. It kind of kept him from doing more serious local stuff. He pretty much missed out on the entire Philippine New Wave of the late 70s since he was doing all the Corman pictures.

Yep. Cirio Santiago, local legend. In the 90s, he headed up our Film Development Council. The industry as a whole crashed pretty soon after that. The two events have very little to do with each other, but it's fun to put those two facts together.

It makes me angry that I can't do anything to help Community survive. It isn't even shown here in this godforsaken third world hell hole.

$470 is a lot more than most people here can make in a month.

I'm super sad to hear that this isn't the nonstop punch-Clive-Owen-in-the-balls-fest that the trailer promised.

Anything by Gerry de Leon is worth seeking out. He never let a complete lack of resources get in the way of delivering something artful and strangely subversive.

SPOILERS!

Pretty much, minus a thing about what the magic brain gas does to humans.

Perplexed
I don't understand how this film continues to get good reviews. It's full of plot holes, the story relying completely on the main characters being either completely passive or actively stupid.

The good reviews perplex me. The film is entirely reliant on the human characters being either passive or stupid. An entire lab is somehow unaware that one of their test subject chimps gave birth. One of the characters accidentally breathes in a potentially dangerous experimental gas, and is never tested or monitored

Sam Witwicky the Movie
The thing that bothers me the most about the Bay Transformers is that the Transformers aren't in them a whole lot. Instead, we get the trials and tribulations of Sam Witwicky, perhaps the most annoying movie protagonist of all time.

The ghetto robots have indeed been excised, replaced by presumably less offensive racial (European) stereotypes.

From CK's twitter:

From the preview, it looked like there was one challenge where chefs from opposing teams (dressed in red and blue aprons) are lashed together.
