I don’t know if you read the article this story links to, but once I did, I understood why she came forward. (There is no quote about not being able to moan any lower.) People assumed it was her daughter, and men had been accosting her and offering her money for sex. She wanted to put a stop to that. And, the couple

Yeah, in the article, they say they didn’t realize they were so loud, but they did have their window open. So now they just close the window.

I’m sorry you’ve never experienced pleasure strong enough that you can’t control the volume of your sex moans.

Also, who complains about people fucking? I love that stuff.

To be fair, Mr. Big and Trump both owned wineries, had a thing for younger women, and were rich despite never seeming to do much of anything. Unclear what Mr. Big’s feelings on Omaha Steaks were, though.

This exactly. It only “modernized” itself in a superficial way. This is why Golden Girls holds up despite its 80s-riffic decor and wardrobe.

It doesn’t age well because the main character, Carrie, is a self absorbed asshole.

The entire series somehow, miraculously, continues to age less and less well with time. In retrospect, Mr. Big (whom Samantha described as “the next Donald Trump” *shiver*) had and did nothing to merit that nickname. A car and Raul? Meh. A move to Napa? Eh.

Same. The actress who played Eleven (if I’m remembering the name right) was excellent, so that elevated the whole thing a bit, too.

Agreed. It was good, but I would have been fine with just one season.

I’m old enough to get the references and I think it was distinctly average. I really don’t get the hype at all.

Yeah I agree. The 80s theme was fine, just the actual plot...was kinda boring. And lame. And took way too long to develop.

I’m a child of the 80's and I thought it was good, but I don’t get the hype. I’m mostly astonished that it won the SAG ensemble award and Producer’s Guild Award and will probably be a co-front runner to win Drama Series at the Emmys. I think a lot of children of the 70s and 80s are voters in these peer groups and love

You are not exaggerating.

I know people wil say I’m exaggerating, but it’s my firm belief that it’s this kind of thing that lay the grounds for normalizing victim-blaming in rape.

I have relatives who are high school teachers, and have had this debate with them. They’ll say things about how high school girls are all dressing “slutty these days” (ugh), their cleavage is too much, etc etc, they just want attention. And I’m like listen, WHY do you care? Why do kids have to dress professionally?

I still hate JFK more though.

I have zero faith in Democrats’ ability to gain seats in 2018, much less take back a part of Congress.

Wow, I didn’t expect to find Mr. False Equivalence here, but there you are!

It doesn’t get much better than that gif so I’m going with this
