Cleveland is awful and I'm not just saying that because of sports "rivalries" or anything. Sure, maybe some suburbs are just as nice as suburbs anywhere, but the city is horrendous. But then again, one wrong turn on a D.C. street and it's as if you entered a 3rd world country.

You win at life.

Ah, ignorant trolls still exist. I was beginning to fear extinction.

I don't think being a Boston fan makes you biased... I think it makes you a Ben Affleck-loving, pack tha cah in tha yad, metrosexual Republican. But I, too, may be biased.

C.C. would have something to say about that.

Very interesting. No sarcasm intended.

I just don't think a comparison can be made from a game midseason to a Game 5 in the playoffs. Every game counts and there are tremendous inseason performances in history, but the postseason aspect - higher pressure, injured, not supposed to be playing, a very talented opposing team also fighting for their postseason

I hate the term "first ballot hall o'famer"... either you were a hall o'famer or you weren't. There shouldn't be some unregulated hierarchy to thos3 who are worthy. There shouldn't be limits to how many can make it - they only limit should be talent-based. A guy can be very, very good - influential even - and not be

Everyone is and no one is. I say we let them all take as much as they can fit in their veins and then see what happens. Pitchers with hulk-sized arms will be throwing 150mph to a Mark McGwire sized shortstop. Can't tell me that wouldn't be fun... at least until all the funerals start popping up.

These are the types of posts I love; they are written well, have an interesting topic and teach me something I didn't know about the game I love. If I could duplicate this post and replace every one like that dumb one bashing Dubya for hiring a research assistant, I'd do so in a heartbeat.

Nobody really knows.

They get paid for their articles; their tweets are a past time. Now sometimes their articles are pretty lame too, but that has little to do with this.

A year+ of not having leads blown by the bullpen or losing quality starts won't exactly lower his contract demands. You could always go out and spend another $300M in an offseason, though. That worked out well last time.

A true win-win deal, at least on paper. Samardzija (and likely Castro) escapes from the disturbingly disappointing confines a cursed team, to go somewhere where winning is not just an item on a preseason goals memorandum. The Cubs get to do what they do best - give fans hope of a better tomorrow, along with an excuse

Hello Jeter's replacement.

Yes.

Doesn't sound like a terrible idea, but it's probably just cheaper to cut your losses and move on.

You win life.

I don't think he was pumped for the interview, but I think it was mainly the time delay that ruined it. There were a few times he was going to elaborate, but she was already talking again. If she was just a little more patient it wouldn't have been nearly as awkward.
