Honestly, Until I read the text I was sure it was some small BMW concept that never happened.

"Slightly" outdated screen and UI but quite elegant overall. Doesn't interfere and does pretty much what I want it to do.

Cost me 8000 euros, apart from worn out alternator brushes (over 200k miles on the clock) hasn't caused me any problems. These things are not that rare here.

I am sorry for mentioning this millionth time, but:

Umm... With PROPER (Do I get some points from this word?) manual transmission you could still depress the clutch, raise the revs and do the clutch drop, no matter the speed...

No Mclaren F1??? Should be in front with P1.

M57 is easily one of the few greatest BMW engine families. Some auxiliaries might need replacing every now and then but the basic engine will work and keep working like greatest MB diesels do.

I know these things are rare over there but in this instance, the diesel is the dealbreaker for me. Too heavy, too low horsepower for this car's attitude. If weight was ignored, this car with its extremely nice condition would make nice base for a M57D30 / M57TUD30 swap, that would make this thing haul. I guess it

To me and everyone else in Europe A3 has always been a semi-honest hatchback with transverse engine configuration, in other words, Golf in slightly fancier clothes and that's all fine. A3 Quattros and S3 have always had Haldex system that puts power to rear wheels only when it senses difference between rotation

Another example of stupid: AWG

Few '80s BBC F1 documentaries on youtube show Duckworth talking about engines. Pretty much most fascinating boring stuff and chap ever.

If there was a heritage model, I think it should be done by UK Ford. Also the rally expertise on that island is pretty much best there is.

My M57TUD30 <3

I have to admit that I find Duckworth's interview's extremely interesting, the way his eyes and intonation light up when he describes small details in engine's thermodynamics or about those crazy forces working inside an engine at a given time. After James May I must be the most boring guy in the world. Look up at

Of course but in the context of 20 year old designs, it is just the right choice

Well it sort of is in the form of LS. It is from the same continuation. Like I said earlier, S54 and LS are the best versions of their respective line. Best of breed. I almost don't care about the rest of this list but combination of S54 + LS on top places is perfect. Actually even though I'm not THAT fond of murican

I nominate two. BMW S54 and Chevy LS

It amazes me you forgot the original Mini from the list. After all it is the car that not only together with Fiat 500/600 defined the city car, absolutely aced the interior space vs. external dimensions optimization, but also defined the technical layout how 99% of compact and city cars are built right up until this

Driving an E46 Touring I just recently found out about that E46 M3 Touring one off they keep there. Now it seems they made a big brother for it in form of an E39 M5 Touring. Thank you for that link!

I second the original Mini. Crazy good to drive, park and hoon around the city.
