Dammit, that's what I call my Bluetooth codpiece.

That usually sucks, and it involves a lot of bending over to pick up poorly thrown frisbees.

I doubt this thing can fly more than 25 feet, but you're right. 25-30 yards is a pretty normal "toss the frisbee around" distance, even for people who don't play ultimate or any other disc related sports.

Don't sweat it. I have at least 8 brain farts a day. My office smells awesome.

exceptionally murderous soldiers, judging from the way the Bakuto's minions handled Colleen. Would love to see how the volunteer-minded utopian commune transformed its high-school age and up crowd into unquestioning cold blooded killers. There are some missing links in that particular Bakuto chain.

Um, just point of fact, Tom Cruise in that movie wasn't "the last samurai." Ken Watanabe was, whose character was presumably based on the real-life "last samurai," Takamori Saigo.

yeah, that's it. Just lifted Mandarin. Just lifted concepts of "chi." Just lifted the "bushido" code (to which great lip service is made). Just lifted the monks and temples and shaolin training. Just lifted vague fortune cookie bits of wisdom for Danny to utter with some suspect intonation. Even lifted Fu Manchu,

What, do they have him on retainer or something?

And yet, in a move ripped from the freshman orientation sexual harassment handbook, Danny is very careful to obtain explicit, affirmative consent before sexing up Colleen.

Yeah. That, to me, also falls on the showrunner and the producers. They needed to have a vision of what this show should be, and instead they split the baby between corporate drama, character drama, and kung fu exploitation. That resulted in this show being thoroughly mediocre in terms of tone and plot.

yeah. That's about right. The writing room, the directors, and the showrunner didn't do Finn Jones any favors, and vice versa. Perhaps an actor with better chops or a different vibe could have bailed out the writers and directors more effectively, but it would have been an uphill climb for anyone given the material.

Exactly. Inconsistent writing, inconsistently played. He went between traumatized victim with anger issues to kung fu warrior with anger issues to wise kung fu warrior fully in control of himself to cluelessly naive to petulant, etc. I got whiplash seeing the many gears of Danny with very little to tie those elements

this whole thread has gone way off the rails.

They're Triad. Criminal organization, counts as "bad guys" in my book, even if they are not the primary antagonists in this particular story.

Okay. If that's your takeaway, either you don't understand my point, or we've entered into the hurtful gibberish phase of this back and forth. Either way, I think this little exchange has run its natural course.
Have a good day.

Of course I don't, but I'm not claiming to. I also don't use my identity or the identity of my friends, family, and colleagues to justify my views, in contrast to your "my Asian friend totally backs me on my opinion that people shouldn't be troubled by Iron Fist's use of a textbook white savior trope and how it

Yeah. It goes to casting, writing, all of it.

So that's pretty much the Asian version of the "I have a black friend" argument.

This.

It went off the rails in the second half. First half was pretty alright.
