I still would pick the Astros pre-Game 1, but I figured it to be a tight series since there is no equalizer like starting pitching (ask the 2003 Yankees). I was just surprised at the heavier odds given some prior matchups in the last ten years.

Unsustainable in the long run, but right now, in the post season, absolutely.

This. Sanchez’s post season demeanor is not being given enough credit. For all of the (well deserved) credit that Scherzer, Corbin, Cole, Strausberg, Geinke, and Verlander are receiving, Sanchez has kept his cool through the games that he has pitched and has been able to dominate plenty of batters. I’m not just

Closers” are dumb anyway, especially in the post season. You can get beat in the sixth inning, too. You use the best pitcher available in the biggest situation regardless of the inning. This article was an excellent write up of how the post season is different than the regular season. You never punt a game. You don’t

If Anibal Sanchez can continue to look like an ace, the Nats may have a shot.

The Nats bullpen, really a puppy pen, has been their problem all year. Their historic turnaround was in spite of the bullpen. Mike Rizzo refused to address the pen last year and again this year. Martinez may trust only two guys in the pen, but only because that’s all he has.

I think Washington’s slow start caused all the bettors to internalize ‘the Nationals are bad but lucky,’ when in fact they’ve had the best record in baseball since bottoming out in late May.

Not enough is being made of Springer’s RBI double in the 8th. Poor base-running by the Astros might’ve cost them the game. As Smoltz points out after the play, Tucker plays this wrong and might not have scored except for a lucky Houston bounce. Meanwhile, if Springer had been running full speed after contact instead

I, too, look forward to being able to easily identify the least original people in my social media feeds.

Poor Jamil, she looks like being there at gun point. She’s currently the most beautiful British celebrity, she deserves better.

But what’s the alternative? Me taking my business elsewhere. Either you might lose my business through me shopping around, or you will lose my business by not giving me what I ask for. Which one gets you a better chance of making money?

Stouts mix well with spice. Granted, I’m a fan of stouts, so this might have some bias, but even a light and accessible stout like Guinness complements spicy fare quite well.

It’s the exact opposite of craft brewers and the care they show for the craft itself. They aren’t bogged down by a ruthless cost-cutting mindset. I think people are more interested in drinking White Claw/knockoffs than light beer, possibly even craft beer.

I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to posit that nothing from A-B or MillerCoors should actually be allowed to be labeled as beer (or fit for human consumption). But seeing as how all of it’s mostly just water anyways...

Your beer is shitty!’
No, your beer is shitty!’

It is a sport that found inspiration from Bud Selig.

Iit’s about time that MLB demands similar levels of tax-incentive grifting from their minor league affiliates to ensure the stadiums are at a certain level as their parent clubs do. Frankly I'm shocked it took them this long.

When I read that someone wanted to steal the recipe for ANY light beer, I laughed out loud.

It really is incredible, the amount of work it takes to make every drop of mass produced light beer taste the same as there’s zero margin for error.

Hold on to that thought until after the World Series, so if they win you can say they were rested and if they lose you can say they were rusty.
