Some of the comments on here are baffling to me. He is absolutely not saying it was alright because I am famous and they admired me. He is saying my thinking like that was what led me to do it, but it was wrong. He is explicitly saying it is not an excuse.

Some folks are getting on him for saying how they “admired” him as kind of self-congratulatory, but I think he is making an important point. Your actions are not justified because they admire you, which I think is what a lot of these entertainers believe justifies their crude and bad behavior.
