Why does everyone always refer to the Paykan in the past tense? The thing is still in production as of 2015, or at least the ute version of it is. It was only the sedan that they stopped making.

That’s kind of pedantic. Americans call it Persian rather than Farsi for the same reason they don’t say Español, Français, Deutsch, etc. Calling it Persian or Farsi isn’t that big a deal. Just don’t call an Iranian “Arab”.

It was a black and white monthly publication. They were doing their best, but in those days during the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988), paper and ink were in short supply, so the overall quality of the magazine was really poor.

It’s ironic that the cars in these pics are Chryslers (Rootes Division)..also known as a Humber Scepter, Hillman Sunbeam(?) and another one I can’t remember right now (Singer???). Used to be a bunch of these running around in Jamaica when I was a kid and my aunt actually owned a Sceptre (twin Strombergs! ;-)

Looks like someone in Iran stole an late 60s (same time period, coincidence that is) British Cortina or Hillman. Clearly a very closely copied design. No news here folks. Go home.

My dad had a Hillman Hunter when we were kids. All I can really remember about it was the seats were black PVC and got too hot to sit on in sunny weather.

I really like Petrolicious videos. Beautiful car and scenery and good cinematography. I've always liked the P1800 and love the fact it is still a very attainable (i.e. inexpensive) classic, both to buy and to maintain. Read more
