I believe she’s pointing out the sheer, condescending hypocrisy of not trusting her to know her mind about a subtle neck tattoo, having covered tons of dudes with extremely loud, easy-to-regret tattoos.

She’s not mocking his work. She’s pointing out that he was perfectly willing to do somewhat odd tattoos on people (sorry, the ice cream cone is absolutely bizarre), so it’s weird that he would refuse to do a relatively simple neck tattoo. Compared to the other examples, what she wanted isn’t particularly extreme.

I haven’t planned a wedding but when people say weird/awkward stuff to me and my boyfriend, we like to act surprised. As if we’re just finding out we’re two dudes ourselves.

I can honestly say that in this case the best way to have her learn is to help her get away with it. Our corrections system is not built around rehabilitation, it’s built around punishment. Actually, the best way to turn a normal teenager who sometimes smokes weed into a criminal is putting them in jail. Your education gets disrupted, you have troubles finding a job with your record after and you meet lots of real criminals in jail. Jail basically is crime school.
